I never knew what I wanted to do in life…
But I was sure about one thing…that I wanted to see things…places…people…

For Manilal Padavoor the quintessence of travelling is simple. To see how people live their lives…Or in other words, to discover every individual’s story called ‘life.’ And it is true as every portrait and even landscape that he has clicked tells us a story. The emotions, the essence of life is so much there that you connect with them instantly…you feel what they feel…though they are so different, so far away from you…

He was introduced to cinematography by renowned cinematographer Mankada Ravi Varma. Later he found his true calling, documentaries. He says directing documentaries and doing camera for other’s documentaries gives him immense contentment.

He won Kerala State Government’s best documentary director award in the year 2006 for his work on renowned Kadhakali singer Kalamandalam Hydarali. His other documentaries include, Between light and shadows, Shadows of the inner scape and Withering Away.

He had a long stint with first Malayalam News Channel Indiavision as their Chief Cameraman.
